Bridestones after rain

Up at the Bridestones above Todmorden

The ground was soft underfoot, holding water just below the surface. There is a particular way of walking here — slower, more careful — feeling for where the ground will take your weight. It changes how you move, how you pay attention, especially when its been raining - and it has!

There is a sense that the bog is already full — of matter, of memory, of time layered slowly. It doesn’t feel empty or available. It feels like something that needs to be approached carefully.

We spoke about how the work might begin, but also about not knowing. About allowing the process to emerge rather than deciding it in advance.

This feels like the start — not of making, but of listening.
